Finals are over!  I’m so excited.  This quarter has been taxing to say the least.  I’ve had to be at school 4 days a week before but for some reason, this quarter just had me exhausted!  I took my final exam for one of my classes on Sunday and turned in my final project.  It appears that I have a 94.93%!  That class was by far one of my favorites.  The food was amazing.  The chef’s I got to study were incredibly fascinating!  I had my cooking final in my other class today.  I got an 87% on it with a current grade of 88.34% (but for some reason it’s not showing the grades of my two quizzes so I don’t really know what my grade is just yet.

Now I have a week and a half until classes start-up again…okay so I have to go to school tomorrow but I don’t have to be in until 11:30am and if we’re done by 1pm (like we were today) then I’ll get another hour or so of work cleaning in the store-room.

Now what’s the big news?  I’m sure that’s what you’re asking yourself right?  I know.  Well I received my quarterly letter from the VA saying that I’m signed up for classes and whatnot but I saw something that I didn’t fully understand so I called.  I spoke with a lady.  I didn’t write down her name.  I was confused.  The document sent to me said that I had 1 month and 12 days left on my Post 9/11 GI Bill.  Not so confusing right?

Well let me back it up for you.  About 6 months ago I called the VA.  I was trying to plan out how much my last 2 quarters of school were going to cost because the way I calculated it out was that I was going to run out of my GI Bill in mid February.  Since I’m using the Post 9/11 GI Bill I was informed that even if I had one day left at the start of the term, the whole quarter would be covered!  Huge weight lifted off my shoulders right!  I then worked with my financial advisor and discovered that my final two classes were going to cost about $3700 and that I would only have to cover about $2400 or so.  I was excited because I originally thought I was going to have to take out a $10,000 loan but since I have the Pell Grant I would have my tuition covered and a little extra to get me through the quarter.

Flash back up to Friday.  The woman told me that as of 6/17/17 (the end of my Spring quarter) I will have 1 month and 12 days left.  So let me get this straight…the VA is going to cover my Spring term?  Yes…and since it’s my final quarter and I’m going to be graduating, I get to participate in the Rounding Out program which means I can take ANY culinary class to make myself full time!

So my final quarter went from getting to work as a student worker for 20 hours, have plenty of time to work on my Capstone project, and take one lab class and only being at school 3 days a week has now turned into 5 days a week again!  I’m pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and taking Advanced Patisserie and Display Cakes.  I am so not artistic so this will be a challenge for me but I am now considered a full time student, I’ll get to collect my full housing allowance.

It may not seem like much to most people but this has been my only source of income while I’m trying grow my online business!  Now to get back to it!  I have another workout to do and then it’s bedtime because this chick is exhausted!
