It’s been a long time now that I have been days without headaches or migraines. I am now seven days since I got my daith pierced and with only two late night tension headaches (the front of my head and behind my eyes…I really need to find my glasses) that did not last very long, I have been headache free! I could not be more happy!
If we’re friends or you follow me on Facebook then you know that I’ve been suffering headaches and migraines for quite some time now. You also might know that I am one of the (un)fortunate people who’s body processes out pain medications before they have a chance to actually have time to work. I say “unfortunate” because that means that I get zero pain relief (I even recovered from surgery minus pain medication because I was in constant pain and never felt better). I say “fortunate” because that means that there is no chance that I can become addicted to pain killers.
My mom got concerned when I was given multiple medications to try the first time I slipped a disk in my back. I was given Vicodin, oxy, and even morphine tablets. Nothing was taking the edge off of my excruciating so I quit taking them. She said that with all those different pain killers that she was worried that I would get addicted. I told her that you can’t get addicted to something that doesn’t work. I said, “People get addicted to pain killers because they take them and it makes them feel good. Then, when it stops making them feel good, they start taking more of the pain meds to make them feel good again. Then it stops and the cycle continues. They (medication) don’t work on me, so why would I take more if it doesn’t work to begin with?”
